With CT scanning, several x-ray beams and electronic x-ray detectors rotate around you. These measure the amount of radiation being absorbed throughout your body. Sometimes, the exam table will move during the scan. WebCT of the extremities is excellent for examining bone detail and anatomy, particularly in the evaluation of fractures, osteomyelitis, and bone tumors, as well as for arthritis and chronic pain. It is also an excellent alternative to MRI for the evaluation of the soft tissues, in patients who can’t have an MRI exam.
